The Arkansas-White-Red River Basin faces unique water management challenges and diverse water needs due to the various states, water management stakeholders, geographic, geologic, and climate areas that the basin encompasses. To understand these unique challenges, WWAO will be hosting a Needs Assessment Workshop for the Arkansas-White-Red River Basin, which will include key stakeholders, resources managers, and decision makers from the Basin, as well as NASA scientists developing water decision-support applications.
The goals of this event are to:
Previous needs assessments conducted by NASA WWAO in other western basins have documented a variety of use cases for NASA data (reports are listed at the bottom of this page). These use cases cover topics ranging from forecasting and monitoring water availability, use and quality to watershed health to responding to extreme events such as floods and drought. High-priority use cases in the Arkansas-White-Red Basin may form the basis of future WWAO awards, partnerships and initiatives.
Date: June 11 - 13, 2024
